Research The East Gippsland Historical Society has a well equiped office situated at the museum site in Bairnsdale. There are extensive archives kept on the Bairnsdale District which include: Local public records & documents Births, deaths & marriages Local family records Large collection of over 40,000 photographs Past newspapers on microfilm Early maps Obituaries Records on buildings & events of significance
Visitors and members are welcome to use the research facilities of the resource centre. There is a range of publications available for purchase and members are on hand to assist with the selection of books and resource materials. The resource centre also has an extensive reference library where books may be researched at the office. Facilities The museum and grounds can be used for various activities such as a backdrop for Wedding photography. Delvine Hall, located longside the museum is also available for meetings and group use. Please contact us to find out more details.
